AMANA 2025

Biography

Amana Melome’ is a Euro-Caribbean-American singer-songwriter whose music lives at the crossroads of jazz heritage, soulful storytelling, and global influence. Born in Germany and raised across continents, she grew up immersed in culture, language, and movement; experiences that now shape the emotional and atmospheric depth of her sound.

Her artistry is an extension of a powerful musical lineage: her grandfather, the late Jimmy Woode, was the youngest bassist in Duke Ellington’s band and collaborated with jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Carmen McRae, and Sarah Vaughan. Her grandmother was a professional jazz vocalist; her aunt, Shawnn Monteiro, is an acclaimed jazz singer; and her father continues to perform throughout the European music scene. Creativity, improvisation, and emotional honesty run in the family.

After studying at NYU and earning her degree, Amana moved to Los Angeles, where she partnered with producer Saverio “Sage” Principini to record her debut album Indigo Red and its follow-up, Phoenix Rising. Her studio collaborators included Vinnie Colaiuta, Reggie Hamilton, and Alessandro Alessandroni; musicians known for their contributions to some of the most influential records of the last several decades. Indigo Red made history as the first album ever carried by Whole Foods Markets before being released internationally on IRMA Records in 2008.

While touring Italy to promote the album, Amana was cast as a lead on Italy’s most-watched television series, Un Medico in Famiglia, playing a fictionalized version of herself. This exposure accelerated her international career, opening doors to performances for renowned brands such as Fendi, Christian Dior, Antinori, and Robert Mondavi. It also led to appearances at major festivals across Europe, Brazil, Asia, and the United States.

In recent years, Amana shifted her focus toward motherhood and visual art, exploring how multiple mediums can serve as different expressions of the soul. During this period of stillness and reflection, her creative voice deepened, becoming more grounded in intention, spirituality, and emotional truth. Her multicultural background, multilingual upbringing, and lifelong movement between countries continue to shape her worldview and her work.

Now, Amana returns to music with Recalibration, a new album that signals growth, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. The project is an exploration of inner strength, rebirth, and the alignment that comes from slowing down long enough to listen inward. Beautifully conscious lyrics, soulful vocal textures, jazz-inflected phrasing, and global influences come together to form a sound that feels both organic and cinematic.

The album’s first single, “Con C.ALMA,” reintroduces Amana as an artist entering a new era, one rooted in awareness, creativity, and connection. As she continues her work across music and visual art, Amana remains devoted to reminding us of oneness, intuition, and the universal threads that tie our stories together.

AMANA MELOME's music has been described as a fusion of futuristic sounds, transcending traditional boundaries. With a mesmerizing blend of rhythms and melodies, AMANA MELOME's compositions resonate with a contemporary yet classic appeal, captivating listeners with every note.
